The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

I was asked by my good friend, Ema Volf, to take part in this blog hop.  Thank you Ema for always being so supportive! You inspire me every day!! Make sure ya’ll check out her post at http://emavolf.blogspot.com/

What is the working title of your book?
As of right now, it is Knotted Roots. Of course, that may change, but *fingers crossed* that it doesn’t.

Where did the idea for the book come from?
It came to me in a dream...No, I’m kidding.  One of my favorite classes in school was Psychology.  I don’t want to major in it or anything, but I love to dig around in people’s brains.  What makes them tick? What are their greatest desires? Fears? That’s what I explore within all of the characters in my book.
I didn’t want to have all of these things happen to my characters and not explore how it affected them.  I’m a big supporter of digging deep.  I want the characters to touch people on a personal and deep level.

What genre does your book fall under?
It’s YA.  This is actually quite hard for me, lol.  I have to be careful what is said and how it is said.  But, it’s working so far! Couldn’t ask for more.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
For the main female character, Roxie, I picture someone like Debby Ryan.  That girl next door look, but very classy as well.  As for the male lead, Chase, he was actually modeled after Chace Crawford, lol. His eyes...oh man...*wipes drool* Sorry, had to control myself.  So yea, Debby Ryan and Chace Crawford.  For the win!
Oh, and just for fun...here are their pics, lol.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Roxie is shipped to her Grandma’s farm in rural SC in hopes of saving her from her parent’s divorce, but instead she is saved herself, learning the true meaning of love, life, and home.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I’m going self-published.  I had originally wanted to publish within an independent publishing group, but I couldn’t find one that really fit for what I am writing about.  Maybe I should add a few vampires in there, huh? LOL Then it could be paranormal!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
So far, there is half a draft.  I started working on it on January 4th, I believe, and it’s already half done.  I’m hoping that at this pace it will be done, edited, more editing, and even more editing, by the end of this month. Once again, *fingers crossed*.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I honestly can’t answer that question.  Most of what I normally read is paranormal and horror, so I tend to stay away from YA.  That sounds bad, doesn’t it? They say to write what you know...definitely going to need that vampire now....

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
I’ve been writing so much for school, and always talking about “one day” writing a book.  Well, my New Year’s Resolution this year was to finally shut up and put up.  I want to make my dreams come true for once.  I live my life doing for those I care about, and taking care of everything else...I just let my own writing fall by the side.
Oh, and after meeting so many amazing people online since August...I had to put them in my book.  There are little bits of quite a few people sprinkled in there.  Some carry real names.  Others don’t.  My friends are my biggest inspiration.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
There’s a love story there. Does that help? LOL Everyone loves a good love story.  But, I have to say, it’s not the main focus of the book.  It plays a big part in it, but there’s just so much more to it.  I hope people are able to connect with my characters and feel as strongly about them as I do.

Now, I was supposed to find FIVE authors to join as well..but I only found three. *hands head in shame* So, make sure you check them out on January 16th when they do their posts!
